Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Generalski Stol?
The best area to stay in Generalski Stol is the central village area itself, particularly around the Dobra River.

This area is the heart of Generalski Stol, offering a convenient base for exploring the surrounding Karlovac County. It's characterised by its proximity to the Dobra River, which is a focal point for many activities. You'll find local shops and a few eateries here, providing all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The village is relatively compact, making it easy to get around on foot.

Families will find this area particularly appealing due to the natural attractions and outdoor activities available. The Dobra River offers opportunities for swimming, kayaking, and fishing, with several accessible spots along its banks. Staying centrally means you're close to any local amenities and have easy access to the river for a day of fun.

For those looking for a quiet retreat, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre, but still within Generalski Stol, offers peaceful accommodation options. These often include guesthouses or holiday homes surrounded by nature, providing a tranquil setting while still being a short drive from the river and village facilities.
When is the best time to go to Generalski Stol?
The best time to go to Generalski Stol is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

During spring, the weather is pleasantly mild, and the countryside is lush and green, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and exploring the Mrežnica River. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more tranquil experience.

Autumn also offers comfortable temperatures and beautiful scenery as the leaves change colour. This period is superb for those who enjoy nature walks and prefer a quieter visit. The river is still suitable for some water activities, and local produce is abundant.

Summer (July and August) is the warmest time, popular for swimming and water sports on the Mrežnica River, but it can be quite busy with both local and international tourists.
